Sleep. Um… what is that again?

On average a new parent will get around 4 hours and 44 minutes (sounds like a very strange angel number to me!), in the first 12 months of having a child.

Sleep deprivation and the toll it takes on their health, relationships is staggering.

But it isn’t just new parents. Shift workers.

On average, shift workers get 2-3 hours less sleep than other workers.

And don’t forget just your average insomnia.

Chronic insomnia is believed to affect 12.2% of Australian adults and is often severely under-recognised.

And a fun fact for you: Humans are the only animals that actively choose to sleep deprive themselves.

All of these along with general disrupted sleep can lead to a host of health problems including cardiac disease, obesity, mood changes, gastrointestinal issues including bloating and constipation, higher risk of accidents, relationship issues, mental health disorders and more.

But all is not lost. There are ways to establish better sleep hygiene, lasting habits and rituals to help feel more relaxed and well rested.
